Brighton’s Summer Recreation Program kicked off this week with two sessions for kindergarten to third graders and two sessions for fourth to six graders. Monday’s theme was titled “Green & Growing”. Kids learned about healthy soils and created a take home compost bottle with gravel, food scraps, newspaper, and worms. Tuesday was called “Rocket Day,” and children got physics lessons as they learned about the magic of rocketry. Wednesday was “Oceans of Fun.” Students learned about waters of the world, ocean creatures, and water pollution through games, experiments, and crafts. Thursday wrapped up the week with “Adventures in Waste & Recycling”. Students were reminded about the importance of recycling. Summer Day Camp Coordinator Amy Adrian says there will be four new programs offered next week. For more information, call Brighton City Hall.
