press play to hear from Francis Thicke

A Democratic candidate for Iowa ag secretary says there needs to be some major changes in the pork industry. Francis Thicke says the market is over concentrated. He says a majority of processing plants are controlled by four major corporations. He says this has created a near monopoly and forced out many independent pork producers. Thicke is an organic dairy farmer from Fairfield. He’s the only Democrat seeking his party’s nomination. He’ll face incumbent Republican Bill Northey in the general election.
