At the Drake Relays, a Mid-Prairie athlete finished fourth, and several area athletes will compete today. Yesterday, in the girls shot put, Mid-Prairie’s Candice Henrichson threw 43-feet and two and a half inches to get fourth place at the high school all-star meet. Iowa City Regina’s Kristen Gaffey finished third and the first and second place girls were from 4A schools. Henrichson’s throw was two feet further than the fifth place throw. Also yesterday, Washington’s Sammy Ellingson competed in the high jump, and finished tied for 25th. Ellingson clear five feet, the winner was Hannah Willms who broke last year’s Drake record jumping 6-1, the previous record was 5-11. For the Demons today, Jake Redlinger will jump in the high jump, Lucy Libe will go in the long jump, and the 4×1 will run.
