IMS is joining with the Williamsburg Raiders for track and field this season. IMS Athletic Director Chris Nachtigal says the move comes because of low numbers for track and field. He says they only had four kids wanting to run and that is just not enough to have their own program. He feels spring soccer has led some kids to have to make a choice between soccer and track. Previously IMS played soccer in the fall but fewer schools were participating in the fall season, and by moving to the spring the kids would have a chance to compete in the post season, there wasn’t a fall soccer post season. IMS also has had a partnership with Williamsburg for football since 2006. Nachtigall says IMS Track Coach Marty Gingerich will still get to be involved with the program, he says Williamsburg has hired him as an assistant coach.
