press play to hear from Sheriff Jerry Dunbar

The Washington County Sheriff says he supports legislation that would require mental health facilities to notify law enforcement before releasing a wanted individual. Jerry Dunbar says they don’t currently have the authority to mandate such information. Some mental health professionals have expressed concern that the measure would turn them into “police agents.” The bill was introduced in response to the shooting death of Applington Parkersburg Football Coach Ed Thomas.
