Mary ConryMary D. Conry, age 85, of Washington, Iowa died Sunday, December 13, 2009 at the M.L. McCreedy Home following a lengthy illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 am Thursday December 17th at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa with Rev. Julie Poulsen officiating. Mary was born April 26, 1924 in Arbela, Missouri the daughter of Ray Webb and Elsie Viola (Adams) Lough. She attended school in Arbela, Missouri. On September 1, 1945, Mary was united in marriage to Charles Helfrich in Washington, Iowa. Charles passed away in 1977. She was later married to Robert Conry on November 4, 1978 in Agency, Iowa.

In her younger days, Mary worked at the American Pearl Button Factory, the Pines Nursing Home, was a waitress at the State Café and also worked at McCleery Cumming Calendar Factory. She later worked at Advance Ross for five years and at Washington Manufacturing for nine years until her retirement.

Mary loved to travel and enjoyed doing puzzles. She enjoyed camping and attending swap meets.

She is survived by son Ronald Helfrich and wife Vicky of Washington, Iowa; daughter Jessie Parker and husband Dale of Lafayette, Georgia; son Charles Helfrich and wife Nellie of Washington, Iowa; son Tom Helfrich of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; daughter Diane Helfrich of Washington, Iowa; son Steven Helfrich of Latimer, Iowa; daughter Linda Williams of Lafayette, Georgia; son Larry Helfrich and friend Julie Montgomery of Keokuk, Iowa; three step sons Gary, Dean and Dale Conry; 17 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, George Lough and wife Nancy of Brighton, Iowa and Raymond Lough an wife Darlene of Riverton, Wyoming.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles in 1977, husband Robert in 1992, infant son Gary Lee Helfrich, grandson Darrell Parker, one sister Mildred Hayes and three brothers Edward, John and Gordon Lough.
