Iowa farmers are being given an extra month to transport this year’s harvest. Governor Chet Culver this week granted a 30 day extension to the original harvest weight limit proclamation for hauling grain on Iowa roads. The move increases the allowable weight for moving corn, soybeans, hay straw and stover by 10 percent per axle. It applies to all highways except the interstate system. It does not necessarily apply to posted limits on all roads. Culver granted the extension after a request from the Iowa Corn Grower’s Association.
