Thanksgiving is this week and in homes across the country turkeys will be prepared in a variety of ways. The staple of course is roast turkey done in an oven or slow cooker. ISU Extension Nutrition Specialist Pattie Stiener says it’s important to plan ahead and allow enough time or the turkey to thaw. She says they can be roasted from the frozen state, but will take about 50 percent longer. So for a bird that would take four hours thawed, it might take roughly six frozen.
