The Iowa State Patrol has released the names of two people involved in a fatal crash north of Mt. Pleasant yesterday. They say 68 year old Victoria S. Shontz of Clinton was killed in the accident, while the driver, 68 year old Austin W. Shontz was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospital for treatment. The accident report indicates the couple’s Buick Rendezvous ran off Highway 218 near Hickory Grove Cemetery, hit the ditch, vaulted into the air and smashed head on into a tree. Police say the car came to rest on the passenger side in a creek where the water was knee deep.
