The north side of Washington’s downtown area will be closed to motor vehicle traffic throughout the rest of September. Crews are preparing for asphalt work at the intersections of Marion and Washington, Washington and South 2nd and Iowa and Washington. The city says the closures are necessary because the street surface needs to be cleaned prior to the asphalt work. They say there will be an edge drop between the brick street and the new concrete curb and gutter. The intersections are expected to reopen September 28.
