A Fairfield farmer who hopes to be Iowa’s next Agriculture Secretary says there needs to be a reassessment of ethanol production. Francis Thicke is vying for the Democratic Party’s nomination for the statewide office. Thicke is an organic dairy farmer. Much of his campaign is centered around localism. He also believes Iowa needs to consider growing more cover crops, such as switchgrass, to help reduce erosion.
