Funeral services for 85 year old Lorene M. Cox of Washington are at 10:30 Thursday (3/11) at the Jones Eden Funeral Home in Washington. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation opens at noon tomorrow (3/10) at the funeral home. Family visitation is from 5-7 that evening. A general memorial has been established.

Funeral services for 98 year old Dorothy Fischer of Sigourney will be held at 10:00 Thursday (3/11) morning at the Sigourney Christian Church. Burial is at Garrett Cemetery near Delta. Visitation is from 4-8 tomorrow (3/10) night at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney. A memorial fund has been established for the Sigourney Christian Church and Keokuk County 4-H.

Funeral services for 94 year old Ruth Green of Oregon, formerly of Sigourney, are at 11:00 Friday (3/12) morning at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney. Interment is at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation is from 10:00 until service time Friday morning. Memorials have been established to Adventist Health Hospice of Portland, Oregon.

Celebration of life services for Mary Kinsinger, 82 of Kalona will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 10:30AM at the United Christian and Baptist Church in Kalona with Pastor Gerry Kahler officiating. Burial will follow at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be held from 8:00AM to 8:00PM Tuesday, March 9 at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona with the family present from 3:00 – 8:00PM.
A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona Park Board, United Christian and Baptist Church and Iowa City Hospice. Mary J. Kinsinger died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona following a couragous battle with cancer.

Mary Kinsinger was born July 21, 1927 in rural Kalona the daughter of Lando and Verna (Hershberger) Gingerich. She graduated from Kalona High School and received her teaching certificate from Cornell College. She was united in marriage to Vernon “Hoppy” Kinsinger on October 27, 1946 in Indiana. Mary was a member of the United Christian and Baptist Church, Iowa City Women’s Bowling Association for 40 years, Kalona Park Board, served as a volunteer at Pleasantview Home for 10 years and attended the Washington County Cancer Survivors Support Group. Mary worked at Proctor and Gamble in Iowa City for 16 years, was a secretary at the Kalona Dental Office for eight years and Hochstedler Insurance in Kalona for 20 years. She was the bookkeeper for Kinsinger Construction and K & K Sanitation for many years. Mary enjoyed Bowling, Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball, especially the AM Vet’s bus trips, reading, shopping, cooking, spending time with her family, and playing cards. Mary was known for her generosity and compassionate spirit, she was always willing and ready to help anyone in need.

Survivors include her husband Vernon “Hoppy” Kinsinger of Wellman, IA, three children and spouses, Bev (Tim) Colbert of Riverside, IA, Sue (Tracy) Janecek of Washington, IA, Bob (Sue) Kinsinger of Riverside, IA, seven grandchildren, Clint and Kyle Colbert, Curt, Chris and Amy Janecek, Brad and Nick Kinsinger, six great grandchildren, Garret, Grant, Chance and Croy Colbert, Averi Janecek and Shay Kinsinger, two brothers, Lando (Gladys) Gingerich, Jr. of Morris, IL, Richard (Rose) Gingerich of Springfield, MO, one sister, Jenny Hotz of Mukwonago, WI, two sisters in law, Shirley Gingerich of Goshen, IN, Maxine Gingerich of Johnson City, TN, two brothers in law, Duane (Sandy) Yoder of Newton, IA, Orval Kinsinger of Iowa City and a special family friend, Diana Conwell of Anamosa, IA

Preceding Mary in death were her parents, three brothers, Roman, Marvin and Eli Gingerich, two sisters, Ella Weaver Maupin and Viola Yoder and one sister in law, Orthella Reece.

Funeral services for 74 year old Shirley E. Hahn of Washington will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the Hillsboro Cemetery at a later date in Hillsboro, Iowa. Visitation begins at noon Tuesday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home with family visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 that evening. A memorial has been established to First Baptist Church, Lending Hands, Washington County Hospice or the M. L. McCreedy Home.

Burial is at Cambrian Cemetery in Rural Columbus Junction. Visitation is opens at 11:00 am Sunday, March 14 at the funeral home. Family visitation is from 2-4 that afternoon.
