Ainsworth Community Church Christmas Pageant

The Ainsworth Community Church Christmas Pageant will be Sunday December 19 at 10am. Any student who would like to participate in the program is invited to attend the rehearsals on Wednesday evenings – Dec. 1, 8 & 15. These will be held in the south church sanctuary from 6:30 – 7pm. if you have any questions contact Janet Rees.

Winfield Cookie & Candy Walk

The Winfield Presbyterian Church is having a Cookie & Candy walk on Saturday December 4 from 8:30am to 11:30am at the Winfield Presbyterian Church. Coffee Shop will be open took. Contact Jeanne Binkle at 319-257-3175 if you have any questions.

Circles of Support Meeting

The Circles of Support will be meeting on Monday December 20th at 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the United Methodist Church downstairs in the fellowship hall. Come join the community in this gathering to support each other and to get your needs met. There is a free supper before our gathering and free daycare during. UMC Country Fair

The Washington United Methodist Country Fair will be Friday December 3rd from 10am to 1pm at the church. Gifts from Granny’s Attic, Baked Goods, Candy, Jelly and Crafts will be for sale. The luncheon will be from 11am to 1pm with hot chicken sandwiches and crumbly beef sandwiches and much more. Free will offering will be accepted, carry out available.

Washington UMC Hanging of the Greens

Washington United Methodist church invites the public to celebrate the beginning of Advent on Nov 28 with the Hanging of the Greens.  At all three worship services the traditions explaining evergreens, Christmas trees, candles, holly and ivy, nativity scenes and poinsettias will be explained as it relates to the birth and reign of Jesus Christ.  Worship is at 7:45, 9 and 10:30 AM.  The public is welcome.

Ainsworth hosting Nativity display

The Ainsworth Opera House in Ainsworth will be hosting one of the world’s largest displays of the nativity open for the public Friday and Saturday December 3rd and 4th and 10th and 11th from 10am to 8pm. and Sunday December 5th and 12th from 1 pm to 5pm.  Over 2,000 different nativity scenes will be shown from over 100 counties.  Each nativity is identified with country, year, and special features.  Special tours for groups outside regular hours can be arranged by calling Michael Zahs at 319-653-6520.  Duplicate nativity scenes are offered for sale, with all proceeds helping maintain the Opera House. A $5 minimum donation is requested to view the display.

Mission Market in Kalona

Mission Market on Saturday, December 4th from 9:00-11:30am at the Kalona United Methodist Church at 302 4th Street in Kalona.  Donations honoring loved ones is an alternative way of giving that is usually well recieved.  The projects to be featured include: the Parkview Home Chaplaincy Program, Hospice of Washington County, Washington County Enrichment Foundation, and many more.

Jubilance Children’s Choir at Kalona Mennonite Church

Jubilance Children’s Choir will be performing a Christmas concert on Sunday, December 12 at 3pm at Kalona Mennonite Church. Jubilance is a 35 voice community children’s choir directed by Rhonda Miller and accompanied by Chelsy Bontrager.
