Title: Washington County Pork Queen Contest Entry Form Deadline
Location: Washington County
Description: The Washington County Pork Producers are seeking contestants for the 2010 Washington County Pork Queen Contest. The contest is open to girls who are juniors or seniors in high school through age 19. They must reside in Washington County and should be involved in pork production themselves or be the daughter of someone who is involved in the production of pork as an owner, operator or allied industry member. Anyone interested should contact Amanda at (319) 461-1165 or check with their school guidance department for a contestant entry form. All entry forms are due by February 17th.

Title: Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby
Location: St. James School Gym
Description: Cub Scouts are having their annual Pinewood Derby Saturday, January 23, from 10:30 to 2pm. Open to the Public, and if your a boy in grades 1st through 5th and would like to join, now is a great time. This year is the 100th year of scouting. They have a lot of great events planned.

Title: Luncheon and DinnerFund-Raiser
Location: the United Presbyterian Church in Washington
Description: The Washington Area Habitat for Humanity will be having a Soup Luncheon and Dinner fund-raiser coming up on Tuesday. It will be held at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with lunch serving from 11am – 1pm and dinner from 4:30 – 7:00pm. Carry-out will also be available. A free-will donation will be accepted and all proceeds will go to help support your local Washington Area Habitat for Humanity.

Location: Washington Demon Gym
Description: “HELPING TAKEDOWN CANCER” will be the theme on Tuesday, as the Washington Demon wrestlers host Fairfield and Van Buren. The wrestlers are working to raise money to donate to the Relay for Life and to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. Donations may also be made at Unc & Nephs and Fareway!

Location: Columbus Presbyterian Church
Description: The Columbus Presbyterian Church is hosting a free concert of Christian Music, Sunday, Jan 31 at 2:30pm. The concert will feature \”Fellowship\”, a men\’s quartet from the Columbus Presbyterian Church, and \”Selah\” a women\’s group from Winfield. Refreshments will be served after the concert.
