Description: The annual celebration of Herbert Hoover’s birthday, “Hooverfest,” takes place on Saturday, August 7 from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. at the Herbert Hoover Presidential Historic Site in West Branch. There will be live entertainment, an arts and crafts fair, over one-hundred exhibits and food vendors, and a fireworks display that night. Description: The United Methodist Church of Washington is holding a sale of many different items (today/tomorrow) on Saturday, August 6th from 2 to 7 p.m. and Sunday, August 7th from 8 a.m. until noon in the church basement in Washington. There will be a bake sale, and they will be selling kids clothes, furniture, tools, toys, games, books, and more. All proceeds go the Washington Area Life Fund.

Description: The Annual “Players 4 Payton” Slow-pitch Tournament is taking place on Saturday, August 7. The event is taking place at the Riverside ball fields at 7:30 a.m. The schedule of events for the rest of the day include “Kross Kountry” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., a HACAP food drive from 9 a.m. to noon, a Home Run Derby from 1 to 2 p.m. and a Kids Carnival from 1 to 4 p.m., featuring clowns at 2 p.m. Concessions will be open all day.
