A house fire in Washington that sent two people to the hospital is being blamed on an electric blanket.
Several southeast Iowa communities are getting part of nearly $135,000 being dolled out by Trees Forever and Alliant Energy through the “Branching Out” program. It’s a nationally recognized effort to fund tree planting projects, energy efficiency and environmental awareness. The city of Wayland will receive f$5,000, Brighton will get $1,000, and Washington will receive $2,500.
