A new report out by researchers at the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation lists Washington County at number 20 in general health in our state of 99 counties.

Washington County Income, Higher then Iowa’s

The median household income in Iowa rose by less than $1,000 between 2007 and 2009, and the poverty rate climbed nearly 1 percentage point, but Iowans fared better than people in many other states hard-hit by the economic recession, according to a report released Wednesday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

County treasurers in Iowa including several in south east Iowa are sticking with a struggling West Des Moines software company that hosts a website where residents can pay property taxes and motor vehicle fees online.

Judge Orders Riverside To Pay Washington County $350,000, Resume $175,000 Yearly Payments

A judge has ordered the City of Riverside to pay Washington County $350,000 and continue with yearly $175,000 repayments for more than $9 million in Tax Increment Financing Bonds that were used to upgrade Riverside’s  sewer and water system in connection with the building of the Riverside Casino And Resort.
