Representatives of the groups responsible for funding of the bandstand renovation lineup for the ceremonial groundbreakingA crowd gathered in Washington’s Central Park yesterday (9/29) to break ground on the bandstand renovation project. The guest of honor at the ceremony was John Jackson. The Washington native donated $175,000 to the effort. Jackson was an original member of the municipal band in 1932. Today he resides in Fairfield. Crews are expected to work on the bandstand this year as long as weather allows. They’ll resume in the spring and hope to be done in time for the first municipal band concert.
