The race for Keokuk County Sheriff is heating up after current Sheriff Jeff Shipley was charged with OWI, although the charges were later dropped. Previously Ron George, a former Sheriff of Keokuk County, and Tom Hadley, and candidate in the 2008 Sheriff election had filed for candidacy.

Two familiar faces have entered the election for Keokuk County Sheriff. Ron George, a Democrat and former Sheriff of Keokuk County who lost to Sheriff Shipley in the 2008 race, filed candidacy papers on March 12th.
