The City of Keota, after discussing the budget for 2012-2013 in closed meetings, will hold a public hearing for the budget today at noon in Keota City Hall. Copies of the proposed budget can be found at the offices of the Mayor, City Clerk, and at the Library.

The City of Keota is holding a public hearing this month to talk about a proposed tax abatement plan for the city. The plan would affect residential, commercial, and industrial properties in the city.

The Keota City Council met on Monday night for their regular meeting. One of the items addressed was the pool agreement with Lagos Acres. The city agreed to fix the pool lights lights in exchange for leftover chemicals from the previous year.

The boys and girls all-conference basketball teams were announced over the weekend by the South Iowa Cedar League and both area schools, Keota and Sigourney, had several honorees.

Thursday night Danville showed southeast Iowa why they are in fact ranked #1 in class 1A. In a match up of unbeatens, Danville ended Keota’s season in Burlington 55-25.
