Three of Iowa’s Best Workplaces in Washington

An annual list of the Top 100 Iowa Workplaces includes the Washington Community School District. The list is based on surveys by the employees in those workplaces.

A total of 266 people are employed by the school district. They were listed as number twelve in the mid-sized employers.

Two statewide companies were also named that have local connections: Fareway Grocery Stores and Optimae Life Services.

Washington County Income, Higher then Iowa’s

The median household income in Iowa rose by less than $1,000 between 2007 and 2009, and the poverty rate climbed nearly 1 percentage point, but Iowans fared better than people in many other states hard-hit by the economic recession, according to a report released Wednesday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Washington County Supervisors Approve Application For Joint Four County Housing Trust
