As the Legislative Session winds down, lawmakers are still passing legislation, such as the “Storm chaser” Bill. These aren’t the storm chasers that follow tornadoes to study or film them. These are contractors who follow storms and misrepresent themselves to homeowners whose property has been damaged.

As previously reported by KCII, a house panel has approved a bill which would allow anyone to make a complaint about a business employing an illegal immigrant. The bill also requires that the complaint would be investigated by the attorney general, county attorney, or local police.

Lawmakers are looking at a bill that would allow all police forces to use GPS devices to track someone’s car. The devices are currently used by specialty police forces, and are attached to a suspect’s car, then used to track the movements of the suspect.

As previously reported, lawmakers are looking at reducing the percent of taxes collected from commercial properties from 100 to 40%. On Tuesday, the House has passed the bill to lower the commercial property tax, but the Senate Democratic Leader says the bill won’t get the support of the Senate’s Democratic majority.
