Audit For County Released

Washington County had local tax revenue of $33,332,035 for the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2012, which included $1,107,388 in tax credits from the state, according to a report released from the State Auditor yesterday. Townships, schools districts, cities and other taxing bodies in the county received $22,476,494 of the local tax revenue.
The total monies the county retained of the local tax revenue was nearly an 11-percent increase over the prior year, at $10,855,541.
Also, expenses for county operations came to $18,593,504, which is an estimated 5.8-perecent increase over the prior year. Roads and transportation took $5,504,258 while public safety and legal services had $4,004,407, and physical health and social services were allotted $2,482,393.
