WACO School District formally announced the hiring of a new superintendent at last night’s school board meeting. School Board President Tim Graber says they’ve selected Dr Darrell Smith for the position, who previously served as WACO superintendent from 2002 to 2008, before retiring. Since then he’s acted as interim superintendent for districts in the area, most recently at Louisa Muscatine. Graber says in addition to his 42 years of experience, they hired him because of his knowledge of the district, its staff and its finances.
