Snowfall to Date Well Under Historic Average
Posted: February 14, 2013 @ 6:23 am In Today's Local News
While snowfall is well below normal, rainfall is actually above average as we reach mid-February. State Climatologist Harry Hillaker says the historical average is 15” of snow by this point in winter, which we’ve received about half of, mostly during two particular snowstorms. He says there’s still plenty of time to get more snow, but adds snow in late winter has been uncommon in recent years.
Meanwhile, above average rainfall in eastern Iowa, especially in the past few weeks, has made a positive impact on river levels.
