The Mid-Prairie Jazz Band did well at a competition in Cedar Rapids this past weekend. Competing in Class 2A at the Coe College’s Jazz Summit, Mid-Prairie’s band placed first. Band Director David Kunz says some of his students received outstanding soloist awards. He adds competitions like this build up to the district contest, which is being held this Saturday at Iowa City West High School. Mid-Prairie’s Jazz Band is scheduled to take the stage at 4:20.
