With the budget hearing completed, Kalona will now submit their final budget for the next fiscal year to the state. According to City Administrator, Ryan Schlabaugh, their projected revenue for FY2014 sits around $3.4 million, while expenditures will be a few thousand dollars more than that. This is due to a reduction in one of their revenue streams, caused by Tax Increment Financing (TIF) roadwork done in parts of town. He says they were able to reduce that impact through some changes to the city’s spending.
