The cause of a fire at a hog confinement facility north of Columbus Junction is under investigation. A fire that broke out early in the afternoon last Friday at Mipa Hog Farms on County Road X17 destroyed two farrowing houses and killed an estimated 1000 pigs. According to Columbus Junction Fire Chief Lynn Mincer the cause of the fire is being investigated by the insurance company and his department.
