Demon Girls Host Mid-Prairie for Pink Out Night
Posted: February 5, 2013 @ 8:30 am In Today's Local Sports
It’s the battle of KCII on the air tonight as the Mid-Prairie girls play the Washington girls for round two.
The last time these two teams played it was a 30-22 Mid-Prairie win.
The Demons are 11-7 coming off two tough conference losses where the offense just wasn’t there.
They are shooting 32 percent from the field and scoring 44.3 points per game.
Lauren Kimball still leads the way for the Demons with 141 points while Stephanie Fishback takes over the two spot with 135 points.
Demon head coach Phil Long said his team has to get off to a better start offensively if they want to win this game.
“We just need to get off to a faster start, we really struggle in the first quarter to put points on the board, and the last time we played Mid-Prairie it was 5-2 with two minutes left to go in the first quarter, and we tied it up at five after the first quarter, and then it was 7-7 at halftime,” Long said.
Mid-Prairie is 24 hours removed from a road win in their Cedar Valley Conference 43-35 victory over West Liberty. The Golden Hawks used a 14-4 run in the third quarter to pull away and were led by 11 points from Jess Butters, Erika Muphy added 10.
As a team, the Golden-Hawks are shooting 35 percent from the floor and scoring 48 points per game.
Mariah Swartzentruber retook the top scorer spot with 201 on the year, but is followed closely by Mallory McArtor with 194 points.
Tonight is pink out night as well. Pink out night is to raise awareness of all types of cancer, and everyone is asked to wear pink tonight. The proceeds raised tonight will be donated to the Washington County relay for life.
