Washington County is offering a free way to get alerts when severe weather is looming. The wireless emergency notification system was implemented in 2011 and alerts people by landline, cell phone, text message or email when the National Weather Service has sent out a weather warning that affects our area. 911 Supervisor Cara Sorrells says you can sign up by calling the Washington County Communications Center.
