The Demon boys fell to Keokuk 67-46.
In the first half it looked like we had a shoot out on our hands, after both teams were answering each other from two range and from beyond the arc to make the first half an exciting 39-31 score.
Roder had 12 points for the Demons and Hoffman had seven out of the gate.
But as quickly as Washington caught fire, the locker room at half iced them.
The Demons came back out in the second half an offensively had only two points from Justin Hoffman the only points from any starter in the entire second half, while Keokuk fed Kendall Clark down low.
Washington trailed 58-38 after three fell by the final score.
The Demon starters were outscored by their bench 13-2 in the second half, and Washington shot 4-13 from the free throw line.
The Demons were led by Roder with 12 on the night.
Demon head coach Bryce Smeins talked about the quick first half after the game.
“I thought first half we got out, and we wanted to play up tempo in the first half, which was dangerous because they like to play that way too, but we play better that way, when we get into the half court set we’re not quite as efficient, I thought we played really well in the first half, I thought we shot really well, but combination of things in the second half, they switched their defense which hurt us, and we got cold,” Smeins said. “If we want to play up tempo you have to knock down shots.”
Washington will travel to IMS on Tuesday.
