School District Discusses Other Capital Needs

The Washington Community School District’s school buildings will need regular facility maintenance to keep them in useable condition. Washington School Superintendent Mike Jorgenson outlined some of the upcoming needs at this week’s school board meeting.

One aspect is in relatively good shape.  Roofs at Lincoln and Stewart elementary, and at the old portion of the new high school were replaced recently enough that there are four or more years left on the warranties.  But the middle school, or the former high school building, has quite a few roofs, but it’s unknown exactly when some roofs were last replaced.  Jorgenson says the roofs are not leaking and he is not recommending replacement at this time until it is determined how long the building will be used.
