The Washington Community School District Board of Education has voted to replace an aging boiler at the high school with a new one.

That would happen if an inspection report shows that nothing catastrophic is wrong with the rest of the heating system.  It means the district would ask voters whether they approve of borrowing about 750-thousand dollars to replace the boiler and add various energy efficiencies to the building.

The old boiler is used to heat the older wing of the new high school.  Board President Eric Turner says if the vote happens and fails, the district would still have to replace the boiler.  He says it would mean taking money from other areas like the purchase of a school bus.
