A private family service for 69 year old Sandra Sue Richards of Brighton will be held at a later date. Memorials have been established for Washington County Hospitals and Clinics or the Brighton Volunteer First Responders and may be mailed to the family at 500 West Washington Street, Brighton, IA 52540. Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home of Brighton.
She had been in failing health. She was born September 20, 1943, in Oskaloosa to A. V. “Sonny” and Barbara E. Payton Sparks. Sue grew up in Rubio and graduated from Brighton High School in 1962. She married John Richards in Washington August 19, 1962. Sue moved to Brighton in 1974 and was a homemaker, worked in tourism in Branson, Mo for 4 years and at Washington Audiology for 9 years. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Sue is survived by her husband, John in Brighton, one daughter, Michelle Huffaker (David) of Baxter and three sons: Jeff Richards (Pat) of West Plains, MO, Adam Richards (Kippen) of Riverside and Matt Richards of West Des Moines, and four grandchildren: Kaitie, Peri, Payton and Clay. Her parents preceded her in death.

Funeral Mass for 87 year-old Richard Vittetoe, formerly of Farson, Iowa, will be at 1 pm Thursday at St. Mary of the Visitation in Ottumwa.
