IMS Boys Shock the Demons, Thompson has 40 Point Night

The Washington Demon offense was there last night, but the IMS offense was just better.
IMS beat the Demons 88-58 last night in an out of conference game.
Washington came out with some good shooting, making shots and points, but IMS had already put a huge lead on the Demons after one 24-11.
The second quarter started to become the Peyton Thompson show, ending the first half with 21 points and helping his team to a 46-28 lead at half.
Demon head coach Bryce Smeins talked after the game about his team’s defense against IMS.
“Our offense has gotten better, we’ve spent so much time on it in practice, and maybe it is my fault, we neglected defense on practice a little bit trying to get better on offense, but I guarantee tomorrow we’re going to get better on defense and Thursday, and our schedule is pretty tough down the stretch here against pretty good teams, and if you can’t play good defense you’re going to get blown out,” Smeins said.
The second half was the same story, as IMS did everything they wanted, shooting wide open three point shots along with pretty back door give and go’s that were undefended and added to the point total.
58 points for Washington is far over their average point total, but 88 points is one of the largest point totals they have let in on the season.
The Demon’s leading scorer was Justin Hoffman with 15 and Walker Breard with 14.
On the IMS side Peyton Thompson came up eight points shy of a school record for points in a game when he dropped 40 points on the Demons.
IMS head coach Dwight Gingerich talked after the game about Thompson’s great offensive night.
“Peyton Thompson had an outstanding game, just played lights out,” Gingerich said. “I’ve just been so pleased with how he has performed the last several weeks, he has really letting things come to him, his turnovers are so down, he had zero turnovers a couple of weeks ago, one last game and I haven’t seen the chart for tonight but took rally good care of the ball, and shot lights out obviously.”
Washington is back in action on Friday when they travel to Ft. Madison.
