The 8^th Judicial District Judge position has been filled. On Tuesday, Governor Terry Branstad chose one of two people nominated for the position. According to District Court Administrator, Deb Dice, it was Randy DeGeest of Oskaloosa who was appointed. DeGeest  is currently serving as District Associate Judge in 8A. He’ll fill the vacancy left by Judge James Blomgren’s retirement.

District 8A covers 14 counties including Washington, Henry, Jefferson, Keokuk and Louisa.
