Winter Safety Tips from Occupational Therapist

After any snowfall, everyday activities like getting into your home can be dangerous. Occupational Therapist Susan Vickerman shares keeping sidewalks and steps clear of ice and snow is crucial to preventing an accident. Additional support near entrances, like duel handrails or grab bars can also be valuable for seniors. She says the winter months see an increase in injuries in the elderly, specifically in hip fractures, which can take up to 6 months for a full recovery.
