Demons Aim For Three
Posted: December 14, 2012 @ 8:30 am In Today's Local Sports
The Demon girl’s basketball team is gearing up for another Southeast Conference battle tonight against Keokuk.
The 5-2 No. 14 Washington wins have improved their shooting over their last two games, but is still shooting right at about 30 percent from the floor, 20 percent from three point range and just over 50 percent from the free throw line.
Beth Dillon leads the way in points along with Lauren Kimball with 50 plus points on the year.
Keokuk is 4-2, and is shooting 40 percent from the floor, 43 from downtown and 63 percent from the charity stripe.
The Chiefs are led by Lakyn Boltz who has 88 points, and Rachel Dunlap with 64.
Demon head coach Phil Long says the youth of Keokuk should give the Demons the advantage.
“They play a lot of freshmen down there, I’m not sure what is going on with their program down there, we had to cancel our freshmen game because they only have six freshmen out, and four of them are playing varsity ball, and I believe they’re starting two or three of them tonight,” Long said. “So we have to take advantage of that youth on their side, because they have not been in a conference battle like this, the last three years it has come down to Keokuk and us for the conference title.”
This game is a Keokuk tonight and scheduled to start at 6:15. You can hear this game on AM and FM KCII and KCIIradio.com with pregame at 5:45 and tip-off at 6:15. The one to count on for today’s local sports coverage is AM and FM KCII and KCIIradio.com
