Columbus Junction will take on another area conference school tonight, when they travel to WMU.
Both teams are 1-0 after Columbus Junction beat Lone Tree 51-35 and WMU beat Pekin 50-39.
Megan Pretz was the leading scorer for the Wildcats with 14, but the team had 22 fouls in the game.
WMU is shooting 39 percent and has 12 steals on the season.
The Wolves are led by Shelby Therme with 13 points, with Cassie Kingery right behind her with 12 points and three for three from three.
WMU head coach Mich Wachs said his team will use the tempo of the game to help them win.
“We have to score consistently, and we have to get them to turn the ball a little bit,” Wachs said. “I think those are our two biggest things, and if we can get up and down the floor a little bit. I think it is going to be a tempo issue, they’re going to try and make it physical and slow it down a little bit and pound it inside, and we’re going to try and get it up and down a little bit, we think we can go inside we think we can play half court, but we prefer to get it up and down a little bit and use the depth that we have.”
Columbus Junction head coach Nate Carlson says limiting the second shots off turnovers is what will win it for the Wildcats.
“Well definitely they key for us tonight is going to be rebounding,” Carlson said. “We can’t give them any second chance opportunities, with their length we can’t give them any second chances, we have to be fundamentally sound on the boards, grab the ball be strong, and take care of the basketball when we get it if we want to give ourselves a chance for victory tonight.”
