The Kalona Public Library has a few new resources for residents to check out. Library Director Ann Skaden says Alliant Energy recently donated a set of Powerhouse dvds and a tool you can use to measure your energy use.

She says the 51 episode Powerhouse series shows examples of how anyone can make their home more energy efficient.

Skaden explains that their new portable kilowatt meter measures the amount of energy any given appliance in your house is using. She says, after using it herself, it’s an eye opener to see how much energy things are actually using.
