Hansen Murder Trial Ends in Guilty Verdict

A Washington County murder trial has ended with a guilty verdict. 72 year old Thomas Lee Hansen of Riverside has been convicted of murdering 54 year old Sharon Gerot in the 2nd degree, a Class “B” felony. He was originally charged with 1st degree Murder. Washington County Attorney Larry Brock says the conviction carries a 50 year prison term and a $150,000 penalty that will go to Gerot’s estate. He’ll have to serve 70% of that term, which is 35 years. The judge has set Hansen’s sentencing date for February 1st.
