With the help of an employee contractor, the Public Works Director position has been filled in Wellman. Starting after the former Director resigned in July, the City was in talks with People Service Inc. out of Omaha, Nebraska.  An agreement was reached in late August and final contract changes were made last month.

Starting the first of November, Tim Garrett will start his duties as a public works contract employee. As a contract employee, People Services will pay his wages and the City will be paying People Services.

Garrett is certified in Grade 3 Water Treatment and Distribution and Grade 2 Wastewater. Pacha adds utilizing People Services provides the city an estimated savings of up to $15,000.
