One of the highlight events in the world of 4-H saw several Washington county youth take home awards. The Ak-Sar-Ben livestock competitions in where held in Omaha, Nebraska the final week of September.

Riley Sieren of Washington was one of the big winners taking home Champion Angus Heifer. Sieren, the son of Brian and Michelle Sieren was also named Champion Breeding Beef Showman for the 2012 4H Stock Show at Ak-Sar-Ben.

Other area participants receiving awards included Brad Lampe, Chelsey Lampe and Riley Sieren in the Breeding Beef Division, Sarah Lenz and Colton Schneider in the Feeder Calves Division, Spencer Shalla in the Market Beef Division and Lauren Sieren, Logan Sieren and Laura Yoder in the Swine Division.

Ak-Sar-Ben is an annual stock show that hosts participants from 10 Midwestern states.
