Today is the deadline to file your federal tax return if you put in for an extension in April. IRS Spokesman Christopher Miller says almost 48,000 Iowans requested an extension this year.  He recommends everyone should double-check their returns for expanded individual and business tax benefits before filing.

Miller adds that filing electronically is the best option to meet the deadline.  He says payments can also be made by authorizing an electronic funds withdrawal or making a credit card payment.  For more information, contact the Internal Revenue Service.
