Single Blood Donation Can Be Helpful for More Than One Person
Posted: October 18, 2012 @ 6:26 am In Today's Local News
A blood donation from one person can be beneficial to more than one individual and a blood drive in Washington is happening this afternoon to help with that need. Don Pfeiffer from the Washington Optimist Club says the rarer blood types like A positive can be broken down into four different parts of red cells, platelets, plasma and white cells which can save the lives of four people.
He says other blood types such as O negative are welcome at a blood drive because that blood type can be given to any person needing a transfusion. Pfeiffer notes the process of giving blood lasts about an hour and those who last gave blood before August 13th are eligible to give.
Today’s blood drive hosted by the Washington Optimist Club is at the United Presbyterian Church from 1:30-6:30. For more information, contact Don Pfeiffer.
