Value of Farmland Continues to Climb
Posted: September 29, 2012 @ 6:27 am In Today's Local News
In spite of the drought, the value of farmland in southeast Iowa continued to climb over the summer. According to the September 2012 Land Trends and Values Survey released by Iowa Farm & Land Chapter of the Realtors Land Institute, the value of all cropland in southeast Iowa increased by 7% since March.
Looking at the past year, the value of farmland in this part of the state has risen by 16.1%.
The survey points to high crop prices, favorable interest rates and the limited amount of land for sale to explain the increase.
