Title: Jan Gleysteen Presentation
Description: Jan Gleysteen, noted Mennonite historian and lecturer will be the featured speaker at the fall meeting of the Mennonite Historical Society on Saturday, October 6th at Kalona Mennonite Church starting at 10am. All are invited to attend. Please bring a dish to share for the potluck lunch. A freewill offering will be accepted.

Title: Opera House Breakfast Buffet
Description: The Ainsworth Community Center Opera House will hold a breakfast buffet on Saturday, October 6th from 7 to 9am. Cost is $7 per person, 10 and under free with adult. There will be biscuits and gravy, ham, bacon and more. This is a fund raiser for the opera house.

Title: Carissa Swartzendruber Benefit
Description: A benefit for Carissa Swartzendruber is being held on Saturday, November 3rd at the Pathway Christian School in Kalona starting at 7 in the evening. There will be a pork loin dinner, homemade desserts and an auction.

Title: Civil War Program
Description: The Washington County Genealogical Society is sponsoring the program given by Tom Woodruff and Ed Bayne about the Littleton Family and the Civil War. The meeting will be held at 7pm on Tuesday, October 2nd in the Nicola-Stoufer room of the Washington Public Library.

Description: Bull Bash – II is being presented by the Louisa County Fair Board at the Louisa County Fairgrounds. There will be bull riding, junior bull riding and steer riding. The event has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 21st at 2pm.
