Mid-Prairie entered Tuesday nights Cedar Valley Conference match with #11 Durant searching for their first conference victory of the season. Durant made sure that search will continue, dispatching the Golden Hawks in three straight sets 25-16, 25-17 and 25-16 in front of the home crowd in Wellman. The Golden Hawks fell behind 7-0 quickly in game one but found some momentum in game two tying the score at 12 after posting nine straight points. Head Coach Melissa Stumpf spoke after the game about what was working for her team in game two.

“When the girls are aggressive and talking and everyone is going all out, things happen for us,” Stumpf said. “But when one person makes a mistake, we all clam up and decide, ‘We can’t go out too much,’ or, ‘We can’t too hard because we might make a mistake,’ we try to emphasize mistakes are going to happen no ones perfect, it’s not going to be a perfect game. They had the momentum; unfortunately we just came up short again.”

Game three was all Wildcats as they opened up a 13-4 lead. With the win Durant improves to 8-1 overall on the year and 3-0 in the CVC. Mid-Prairie is now 5-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
