The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks ran at the Keota Invite last night and finished third on the girl’s side and were the meet champions for the boys.
The race was shortened because of the heat.
The Boys were led by Ryan Errthum who finished fourth with a time of 12:57, and right behind him was Jake O’Donnell who finished fifth with a time of 12:59. Other scorers were Jared Draper in eighth, Ty Feigenspan in 11th and Wyatt Cady in 15th
The Boys won the meet with a score of 43, half of the second place team Highland.
Head coach Mark Hostetler said Errthum showed up and ran as a veteran, and that O’Donnell continues to be a great influence on the team.
On the girl’s side of things, Mallory McArtor was the first runner, finishing second with a time of 12:38. Other scorers for the girls were Tayler Foster in 16th, Beth Chmelar in 20th, Summer Gracey in 21st and Hannah Van Roekel in 25th
The girls finished in third with a score of 84, just one behind second place Columbus Junction. Wapello was the winner of the meet with 65.
Hostetler said McArtor led the team with a typical strong outing, and that the girls did a good job of running together throughout the race.
Mid-Prairie is back in action next Tuesday at English Valleys Invite.
