As a preemptive measure an area school district is offering free flu shots for its staff for a third year. According to Columbus School District Superintendent, Dr. Marlene Johnson, their schools are offering free flu shots today.
Nurse at Columbus Schools, Barb Chaney, says that after H1N1 caused a lot of staff sickness, former Superintendent Rich Bridenstine approached the school board to cover flu shots as a way to curb substitute teacher costs.
Chaney says that this includes all staff including bus drivers, cooks and janitorial staff. The shots are administered by Louisa County Public Health.
